Let's do it again
Search your name and the word "wants." These are much better than my Laurie "needs."

Laurie Needs
This might be old, but it's the first time I've seen it. Go to your favorite search engine and type your name and the word "needs." For example, "Laurie needs." Here are some of mine:
- Laurie needs to read the CBE Certification.
- Laurie needs a crash helmet.
- Laurie needs help.
- Laurie needs to lose weight.
- Laurie needs flight school.
- Laurie needs a haircut.
- Laurie needs in on this.
- Laurie needs her days off, too.
- Laurie needs to update more often.
- Laurie needs no introduction.
Leave me some of your favorites for your name in the comments.

Seven Random Things
I've been tagged by Just a Plane Ride Away to tell you seven random things about myself. After you read mine, go write your own.
1. When my daughter-in-law was pregnant with the magical person we now all know as the Grand-Fabulous-Ava, I suddenly started liking all things girly and glittery and pink. I was never like that before. The odd thing was, we didn't know she was a girl until she made her grand entrance into our lives.
2. I would rather blog than read books, which has really put a dent in my book count over the last few years.
3. I love resale shops, but I hate flea markets and garage sales.
4. I'd rather spend money on food, friends and fun than on clothes.
5. I didn't like tomatoes until I was in my 20's and didn't eat broccoli until I was pregnant (25 years old). I drank my first whole beer about two years ago.
6. My first job was in the basket room at the neighborhood swimming pool. I still love the smell of chlorine.
7. When I was 19, I wanted to be a legal secretary, but I wouldn't quit the job at the doctor's office where I worked. Ten years later, I got a divorce and a paralegal degree and finally went to work in a law office and I still love it to this day...twenty-two years later.

Looking Back
Donna at SoCal Mom has tagged me to do a meme. I have to choose one post from 2007 from each of the following categories. Click on the category to read the post.
Link 1 must be about Family
Link 2 must be about Friends
Link 3 must be about Yourself
Link 4 must be about Something You Love
Link 5 can be Anything You Choose
Now, I'm supposed to tag 5 people, then they tag 5 people, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera...
I won't specifically tag anybody. However, if you do the meme, let me know in the comments and I'll pretend to send you $1. Can't beat that, now can you?

True Colors
Since no one except you reads blogs on the weekends, let alone a holiday weekend, I think it's as good a time as any to do this silly little bloggy thing I stole from Mommy Needs a Mai Tai a while back.
These are the first things that pop into my mind when I think of...
Pink - John Cougar Mellancamp and my brother-in-law Dan. When Little Pink Houses was popular, Dan used to go around saying, "Paint the mutha pink" (especially while playing Trivial Pursuit).
Gray - A really cool guy I met on Crockett Street recently who said his name was Gray.
Red - My dad. That's his name.
Black - Black fingernails. I'm not sure why.
Orange - "Orange you glad I didn't say yellow?" (an old knock-knock joke).
Brown - Puppies.
Blue - Dusk and dawn. My son used to call those times "blue time." Next time you're outside at dusk or dawn, look at the sky.
Yellow - Mardi Gras (see below).
Green - Mardi Gras (see above and below).
Purple - Mardi Gras (see above).

Meme Me, Baby
Stolen from Old Horsetail Snake by way of Neal...
I AM looking for love in all the wrong places.
I WANT you to want me.
I WISH I had a watermelon.
I HATE spiders and snakes, and that's not what it takes...
I MISS but I keep trying anyway.
I FEAR fear itself.
I HEAR ringing. (That's normal, right?)
I WONDER I wa-wa-wa-wa-wonder, why. Why, why, why, why, why...
I REGRET starting this.
I AM NOT as clever as I thought I was tonight.
I DANCE because when I skip, people look at me funny.
I SING because when I dance, people look at me funny.
I CRY because when I sing, people look at me funny.
I AM NOT ALWAYS responsible for everything they say I did.
I MAKE WITH MY HANDS then I throw it away.
I WRITE all wrongs.
I CONFUSE men.
I NEED you to need me.
I SHOULD have deleted this.
I START me up.
I FINISH You Danish?

What Book Are You?
I got this quiz from So-Cal Mom. Which book are you?

You're Siddhartha!
by Hermann Hesse
You simply don't know what to believe, but you're willing to try anything once. Western values, Eastern values, hedonism and minimalism, you've spent some time in every camp. But you still don't have any idea what camp you belong in. This makes you an individualist of the highest order, but also really lonely. It's time to chill out under a tree. And realize that at least you believe in fairies.

Book Quiz/Poll
Aisha, one of my fellow NUNS (No Unnecessary Needless Shopping) during Lent, sent me the following poll. In this poll, you will discover exactly how intellectully shallow my literary interests run. My alleged brainiac cover has been blown.
You're stuck inside Fahrenheit 451, which book do you want to be?
(For those of you who don't know, in Fahrenheit 451, the books were being burned so people had to memorize a book.)
I would want to be Pet Semetary by Stephen King so I could go around scaring the crap out of people. They would run like hell and I would chase after them shouting my book word for word and I would have separate voices for each character.
Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?
Rhett Butler, of course.
The last book you bought is:
America (by Jon Stewart and the cast of the Daily Show)
The last book you read:
Cat's Cradle (Kurt Vonnegut)
What are you currently reading?
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone
America (see above)
Someone also gave me Angels & Demons (Dan Brown) which I haven't yet worked into the mix
Five books you would take to a deserted island:
Lorna - She is a bookstore regular and I'm interested to know what her answers would be.
Lauren - She is one of my younger blogging friends and I'm curious to see her answers as well.

Music Poll
My newest blogging friend, Donna, who used to work on the Tonight Show, by the way, and has some great stories over at her blog, tagged me to do this musically oriented thingy. Here goes:
Music Poll:
1. Song that sounds like happy feels:
I'm Walking on Sunshine
2. Earliest musical memory:
We had these little plastic records of different colors which were mostly Disney and we also had some records that had picture books with them and you would turn the pages as you listened to the records. We had a little portable record player. We were so cool.
My first pop music purchase was a 45 of the Rolling Stones Get Off of My Cloud and I remember singing Beatles songs on the playground in second grade with my friends.
My first musician crush was on Peter Blair Dennis Bernard Noone (Herman's Hermits), then Bobby Sherman, then David Cassidy.
3. Last CD you bought:
I bought four: Cher, Jason Mraz, Coldplay and Maroon 5.
4. Reminds you of school:
Elementary
Beatles (see above)
High School
Allman Brothers
College
I went to college way later, after my divorce. That was the mid-80's and I was frequenting the country bars. So it would have to be George Strait.
5. Total music files on your PC:
I had about 500 music files and accidentally deleted all of them when I got rid of Kazaa. Now I have about 5 but at least I came by them honestly. I paid my $1 per song, by God.
6. Song for listening to repeatedly when depressed:
You can't beat country for that. I'll go with anything Patsy Cline or Hank Williams.
7. Song that sounds British, but isn't:
I'll have to think about this one. Moving on...
8. Song you love, band you hate:
Abracadabra (Steve Miller Band)
9. A favorite song from the past that took ages to track down:
From a Castle Kicker to a Braid Puller to a Heart Breaker (We had a girl band in elementary school and we played this record over and over and memorized every word. I have no idea who sang it and I still haven't found it.)
10. Bought the album for one good song:
Fever In Fever Out (Lucious Jackson)
11. Worst Song to Get Stuck in your Head:
Well, now I have that damn Castle Kicker song in my head so I can't think of anything else.
12. Best song to dump a beer on someone's head to, then storm out of the bar?
Don't Ask Her on A Straight Tequila Night (John Anderson)
13. Who should do this next?
Lorna
Lauren
Astrid
Jen
