Hotmail Calendar not Syncing to iPhone

I recently noticed that calendar entries I entered into my iPhone were not syncing to my Hotmail calendar and, therefore, not being shared with family members who shared my Hotmail calendar.  I have a Windows 8 laptop and an iPhone 5.

I'm not sure when the entries stopped syncing to and from Hotmail from my iPhone.  After various attempts to remedy the problem, my only solution was to delete my Hotmail calendar from my iPhone and re-add it as an Exchange account rather than an Outlook account.

Before removing the Hotmail calendar from my phone, I compared my iPhone version of the Hotmail calendar and my laptop version of the Hotmail calendar and added the entries from my iPhone which did not previously sync to the laptop version of the calendar.

Here are the steps:

1.  Compare iPhone version of your Hotmail calendar with your PC version of the calendar.
2.  Add any entries to the PC version which are present on your iPhone, but not on your PC version.
3.  Delete your Hotmail calendar from your iPhone by using Settings (Mail, Contacts, Calendars) on your iPhone.
4.  Re-add your Hotmail calendar, but choose "Exchange" rather than "Outlook.com" to enter the account.

Google Chrome

I highly recommend that you install and use Google Chrome as your internet browser.

My laptop was locking up at least twice a night when I was on the internet and I thought I was on the way to needing a new computer.  Since I started using Google Chrome as my browser, no more problems.

Plus, you can download and play Angry Birds on your PC.

Prodigy, Link to Mad Maze and My First Home Computer

I just uploaded a 42 MB file in one minute which made me think back to my first home computer purchase and my first online service provider.



Below, you will find copies of a newspaper ad for the computer, a worksheet from the computer store and a catalog picture of my super cool computer hutch (which I totally assembled all by myself) all of which I bought January 2, 1992. What? You can't put your hands on 15 year old paperwork in less than 10 minutes?








You'll notice that I bought the computer from a local group of guys and not from Best Buy or Circuit City or anything like that. In 1992, southeast Texas didn't have these stores. If you didn't know someone who could build a computer for you, there were a couple of locally owned shops that could help you out.

You will also notice that my $1,800.00 bought:

2 MB RAM (I paid $69 extra for the second megabyte)

One 5.25" floppy disk drive

42 MB hard drive (didn't upgrade - 89 MB $140; 125 MB $239)

14 inch monitor (I paid $244 to upgrade from a 12" monochrome monitor)

I had to pay extra for a mouse! ($39.00 and I couldn't imagine what I was going to need that thing for)

I also paid $149.00 for the software package: Lotus Works, Quicken, PFS First Publisher, PGA Tour Golf and Calendar Creator Plus. (I still have the books and disks in a closet somewhere)

2400 BAUD Internal modem (the modem was $79 extra, but having an INTERNAL (!) modem was super cool)

With a 2400 baud modem and a dial-up internet connection, your online experience was severely limited and was paid for BY THE MINUTE. I can't remember how much I paid for Prodigy, but I think it was about $15 a month for maybe 15 hours of online time.

I could be fuzzy on the details, but I remember leaving my computer online all night to download shareware. Since I only had a 42 MB hard drive, those all night downloads were probably for a little 50 KB game. (Correct me if I'm wrong and I'm sure you will.) After the all night download, we (my son Cory and I) wouldn't go back online again until the next month billing cycle because that one download would have used up all our base online time. In the mid-90s or so, we switched over to America Online because they offered unlimited online time for $19.99 a month.

Back So Soon?

I solved my computer issues by removing Trendmicro PC-Cillin 2007 from my computer. Luckily, it was a free trial version so I'm not out any money. I've been using PC-Cillin for several years with no problem but I'm evidently not the only person who has had problems with the the 2007 version.

I looked around the internet to see what else was out there for antispyware and antivirus protection but each program had people who loved it and people who hated it. After the nightmare I've had the last two days with the PC-Cillin program, I decided I didn't want any of them.

My solution? I have decided to put all my eggs in one basket and downloaded the Microsoft Windows Live OneCare antivirus/antispyware/firewall system. I also downloaded Internet Explorer 7 and everything seems to be running a lot smoother than it was even before I tried to upgrade my PC-Cillin.

People like to fret about whether or not Microsoft is trying to take over the world, but, this morning, I don't care. If Bill Gates was here right now, I'd kiss his ass.

Dream Post and Posting Post

This morning right before I woke up for the day, I was dreaming that the son of one of my co-workers was showing me his art/science project which consisted of a messy bathroom with a toilet filled with toilet paper. I told him he couldn’t leave it like that without leaving a note because someone would clean the bathroom and flush the toilet and, then, his science project would be gone.

Just then, Pauline Porizkova came floating gracefully into the bathroom and that’s when I realized my clock radio was playing the wonderful Cars song “Drive” and I had overslept.

Posting note for my stalkers…I mean, my most loyal readers:
I updated my virus protection program last night and between the time my old program was down and my new program was up, I somehow got spyware on my computer and it is moving at a snail’s pace, sort of like Tim Conway when he acts like that old man. Until I can fix the problem, I won’t be posting because that would eventually result in me throwing the computer out the window and there would be all that glass to clean up and everything. Read some archives if you’re desperate for a Miss New Orleans fix.

I received a piece of spam e-mail today from Mincemeat Q. Gonad. What kind of idiot would open an e-mail from someone named Mincemeat Q. Gonad? The answer is the kind that would be me. I couldn't resist.

Surprisingly, Mincemeat wasn't selling Viagra. He was selling educational software. That Mr. Gonad is quite the clever fellow.

I'm So Far Behind

A couple of days ago I did a post complaining that my hands were cold and wishing someone would invent gloves that people could wear and still be able to type. Jennifer left a comment that the Japanese have already invented heated gloves which plug into your USB port.

Oh, no, Mr. Bill!

I fear the power of computers. I fear that one day my work computer will develop (if it hasn’t already) a sort of HAL artificial intelligence and turn against me. All it would have to do is drop a calendar item here or a database entry there and I would be toast.

My co-workers would hear the weeping and moaning and rending of cloth as I’m being escorted from the premises, “It wasn’t me! It was the computer! It hates me! The database is corrupt! The calender program is obsolete! That fucker is the spawn of Satan! A pox on you Bill Gates and all your minion! I fart in your general direction!”

Trend Micro Pc-Cillin, Roadrunner and Internet Connection

For a couple of days I lost my internet connection. I called Roadrunner and the support person had me turn off my virus protection (Trend Micro Pc-Cillin). After I did that, I got my internet connection back. However, every time I restarted my virus protection software, I lost my internet connection.

I tried to contact Trend Micro but couldn't find a phone number so I sent them an e-mail but never got a reply. I uninstalled my Pc-cillin and reinstalled it and now everything is fine.

The reason for this post is so that, if anyone has the same problem and does an internet search (like I did a thousand times), this might help them.
