How was YOUR weekend?

Mine was fine. Thanks for asking. Some of my co-workers had a rough time of it though. It wasn't quite as bad as the Monday we all got back to work and discovered that twelve of us had come down with a stomach virus over the previous weekend but this was pretty bad:
  • One girl got kicked in the face by a horse. She's okay. It just grazed her but it could have been tragic. She has a big black eye.
  • One girl's house and vehicles were damaged by a hail storm.
  • Jen T. was acosted at her boyfriend's band's gig. It's on her blog.
  • One of the men in the office was harassed by a very scary man at Wal-Mart in San Antonio. This was much scarier than I'm making it sound.
  • One girl's weekend at the beach was ruined when half of the people staying at the cabin got a stomach bug.
  • Fav File Clerk fell while trying to get into a boat and has a huge bruise on her leg.

Freaky deaky.

Uh-oh, Laurie... looks like you had a spammer here before me. If I could, I'd kick his ass!

YES! My Saturday/Saturday night was horrible! But it did make me realize just how much I must mean to the boy. :) Teehee. :)

At least my second attempt to get into the boat was successful AND I caught ONE fish! Too bad he was too small and wasn't a keeper. Oh, the luck!

My weekend was full of weird men doing weird things and 2 nice ones doing things I liked a lot.
weird things:
1) a man I haven't seen or heard from in at least a couple years, asks my forgiveness and wants to get together. I said I would think about it, which I have and it isn't going to happen.
2) A declaration of love via my cell phone at 3:30am one morning, by some guy who knows me well enough to have my cell number and use a private nickname. No idea who, unknown on caller id, too sleepy to figure out the voice. I told him thank you for telling me and then I went back to sleep.
3) another guy, who found something I had written about forgiveness (maybe I will post it on my blog!) and felt moved say "I need to offer an apology to you, for dropping out and disappearing after saying I wouldn't. I don't deserve to be forgiven, but I will still offer my apology." I last heard from him Dec. 24, 2003.

Nice things
1) an old friend that I was worried about called, everything ok for now and we had a nice long talk about our living in "interesting times"
2) a nice phone call with music, that was really good from someone who makes me smile.

Whew! This is really scary. My weekend was pretty horrible too. I kicked out my lying, stealing, signature forging offspring and changed all the locks on the house. I'm feeling much better now.

I had a sucky weekend, too. Now I realize, it's all probably because I know YOU.

Dammit.

I am more freaked out that you actually had to go to work on Monday. I always knew Texas was different but they don't get Memorial Day off?! Maybe that is why all the freaky things happened. Kind of like not tossing salt over the left shoulder when a black cat crossed in front of you while walking under a ladder on shards of a broken mirror.

My impression when I first moved to Texas in the 70s was that Memorial Day wasn't generally observed. I believe it has something to do with its origins as a Yankee holiday growing out of the War of Northern Aggression. The real memorial day is January 19.

Jen - Everything happens for a reason.

Fav File Clerk - You shall heretofore be called *Fishing Fav File Clerk*

Susan - Holy cow! That's a full weekend of goddess worship. Good for you!

Old Roses - Whoa! You get the prize for worst weekend of all.

Abby - My powers of destruction are indeed far reaching.

Ed - We didn't have to work Monday. I was comparing coming back to work with a previous Monday on which we did have to work. It was actually Tuesday when we came back. (I'm sure I cleared that up nicely.)

Bonnie - The Italian food was indeed dee-lish!

Wang - I pretty much celebrate anything, anywhere, anytime. I even occasionally take a day off while AT WORK.

My weekend was pretty relaxing (the calm before this storm of a project at work that starts next week). My wife and I went out for Mexican food on Saturday. On Sunday, I did a lot of laundry and cooked a wonderful meal (broccoli and cauliflower and stuff layered with a tahini sauce - yumm). On Monday, we just bummed around and walked the dogs.

This is the first time I've had a weekend like this in weeks.
