I am champion!
I've had my Wii Fit for about a year and a half now. Each Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus skill has four levels of achievement: beginner, amateur, intermediate and champion. After a year and a half, I have finally reached the champion level on a skill. That's a picture of the "skill" up there.
The skill is in the yoga section of Wii Fit Plus and it's the skill of meditation. More specifically, it's the skill of sitting on the Wii Fit board with your legs crossed in front of you while staring at the flame on your television and listening to soothing music.
Not only is this my first champion skill in Wii Fit, but I also achieved that status on my first try. Put another way, I am a "champion" at sitting on my ass in front of a television.
I've had years of training.

No More Excuses
My work life is back to normal, my daughter-in-law is over the hump of her horrible morning sickness, my mom is doing well and my brother and his family have gone back to Arkansas after a wonderful visit. So, there will be no more non-blogging and no more non-exercise excuses.
I will blog every day, even if it's just a stupid link or uninteresting observation. I will exercise every day, even if I only put on my tennis shoes and play Wii for thirty minutes.
Speaking of Wii, I'm also going to get back into Guitar Hero/Rock Band. Because...

This and That
Whoopsie
For the second time in as many days, while pulling out of a parking space I've thought my car was in reverse and it wasn't. Word to the wise, if you see me starting my car in a parking lot, don't stand in front of me.
Wii
I finally played with my Wii Fit. Cory and Jamie and I laughed until we cried. I suck at 90% of the games/exercises. However, I did kick Cory and Jamie's asses "running" and hula hooping. Jamie rocked the step class scenario and Cory couldn't be touched on the ski jump. In other news, according to that Wii bastard, I gained 3 pounds between Friday night and Sunday morning. WTF?!
Fred Eaglesmith at Courville's
Tonight Jack, Steve and I saw Fred Eaglesmith at Courville's. Fred is hilarious and, yes, Jack you have seen him before. I'm a big fan of the corny joke and I'll leave you with one that Fred told tonight. (Oh, yeah, he sings, too.)
A man walks into a 24-hour dentist's office at 10:00 p.m.
The dentist asked, "What seems to be the problem?
The man said, "I think I'm a moth."
"Well, I can't help you," said the dentist. "You need a psychiatrist."
"I know," said the man.
"Then, why did you come here?" asked the dentist.
"Your light was on."

Wii Fit...Finally
I finally hooked up my Wii Fit.
It tells me I am unbalanced.
It tells me I am overweight.
It tells me my fitness level is that of a 66 year old.
It does not lie.

This and That
I gave up shopping for Lent. Before Lent, I couldn't find a Wii Fit anywhere. Now, they're everywhere I look. Target had TWO of them Saturday. By the way, I can't shop, but I can accept "gifts." ((nudge, nudge, wink, wink)) Then I could give you a "gift" of a check of $89 plus tax. That machine up there is a combination vacuum cleaner/blow dryer. I'm going to buy one and stand by the receptionist desk at my office and blow the pollen off of everybody as they walk in, then suck it up with the vacuum cleaner. My constant sneezing is waking up my co-workers.
I keep chocolate covered espresso beans in my desk drawer at work. I take them out of the store packaging and put them in a Ziploc bag to keep them freshy fresh. Then, I put a hand-written label on the Ziploc bag which says "coffee beans," because I have a fear that some chocolate grabbing thief will steal a handful out of my drawer when I'm away from my desk and, after gulping them down, will think they're having a heart attack. Bwahahaha! That would actually be sort of funny, wouldn't it?
Another great show on The Biography Channel. The Chris Isaak Hour. One guest, one hour, interviews, performances, duets. Fabulous.Friday, February 13, 2009

To Wii or Not to Wii

I'm thinking about spending the money I usually spend every year for a gym membership that I end up not using after three months on a Wii game console. I understand it comes with the sports package.
Does anyone feel like they get pretty good exercise using the Wii? Also, for exercise purposes, do you recommend one of the dance game titles or Wii Fit? What other games are offered that require a lot of movement?
