Did I mention I got 2nd Place in the costume contest?

I guess I still haven't posted my lovely tutu Halloween costume pictures. I also guess I forgot to mention that I got second place (to the lovely bride...Debbie Howard Tamez) in the costume contest.

How to Choose a Halloween Costume

I have some friends coming over today to go through my Halloween stuff in an attempt to put together a Halloween costume. I just pulled everything out of my closet and I can't believe how much stuff I have. I have a cave girl, Mai Tai, Gingerbread Man, Scary Bride, medieval lady and numerous wigs and accessories. A lot of it I've never worn.

Halloween night we'll all be at the Logon Cafe here in Beaumont where my friends Southern Embers and Longneck Road will be playing. Click here to see the poster.

Here are my two professionally acquired suggestions for choosing your Halloween costume:

  1. How is my hair going to look when I get sick of this wig, hat, bobblehead...etc.

  2. Can I hold an alcoholic beverage with these cartoon hands, skeleton hands, claws, etc.

You're welcome.

Best Halloween Costume Ever?

I just read this on My Life is Average while surfing Stumble Upon:

"I grew up in a college town, and one Halloween our doorbell rang and we opened the door expecting to see trickortreater—but what was in front of our open door—was another door! Like, a full-on wooden door, that had a sign that said “Please knock.” So we did, and the door swung open to reveal a bunch of college dudes dressed as really old grandmothers, curlers in their hair, etc, who proceeded to coo over our “costumes” and tell us we were “such cute trick or treaters!” One even pinched my cheek. Then THEY gave US candy, closed their door, picked it up and walked to the next house."

Candy Corn Shooters

While we're on the subject of Halloween...

Ingredients
Oranje Van Gogh Vodka
Banana Liqueur
Coconut Rum
Orange Curacao
Cream
Grenadine
Whipped Cream

Preparation
Combine Combine Oranje Van Gogh Vodka and Banana Liqueur into a mixer with ice. Shake and pour into the bottom of the shot glass.

Combine Coconut Rum, Orange Curacao, Cream, and dash of Grenadine (for color). Shake in shaker with ice and gently layer on top using a spoon.

Top with whipped cream.

Or an easier recipe...
1 part Licor 43® liqueur
1 part Orange Curacao liqueur
1 part cream

Carefully layer on top of each other to resemble the halloween candy. First the Licor 43, then the Orange Curacao, then finally the cream.

What I didn't know about my brother's Halloween costume

When my brother e-mailed me the picture of him in his Playboy Bunny costume, he neglected to tell me that his wife went to the party as Hugh Hefner!!

My brother's Halloween costume

My brother is the one on the left. He and the other people in the picture are the senior high Sunday school teachers. He felt it important that I mention that.

My Halloween Costume This Year

This is my Halloween costume for this year. (That isn't me in the picture, by the way.) The big Halloween party at Antone's this year will have a tropical/hurricane theme so I thought this would fit right in. I sure hope it gets here before Saturday. I paid extra for Fed Ex.

I'll take pictures out at Crockett Street. I love going out on Halloween. The costumes are always amazing. I have a semi-deal with a friend of mine to dress like the alleged witch from Monty Python next year. He has official Monty Python garb and thinks the combination could win some money. Since I would want my witch to be perfect, I don't think I can do it in a week. So, next year, we shall kick ass. This year, I'm just going to drink Mai Tais in my tiki garb.
