I get a lot of hits every day from people looking for the lyrics to the song "Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans?" I've had this blog for almost two years and never posted them. How embarrassing. Here you go...
Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans?
Composed by Louis Alter and Eddie DeLange
Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans
And miss her each night and day
I know I'm not wrong this feeling's getting stronger
The longer I stay away
Miss the moss-covered vines, the tall sugar pines
Where mockingbirds used to sing
And I'd like to see that lazy Mississippi
Hurrying into the spring
Moonlight on the bayous
A Creole tune fills the air
I dream about magnolias in bloom
And I'm wishin I was there
Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans
When that's where you left your heart
And there's one thing more,
I miss the one I care for
More than I miss New Orleans

They are good words Laurie, much more poignant now-a-days I guess.
Peter - I do miss it more each day. I need a N.O. fix!
You know, I just learned something here. I didn't know your blog title came from a song. How nice. I got all warm and tingly inside.
Dave - It's a great song. I especially like the Louis Armstrong and Harry Connick, Jr. versions.
I never even knew that was a song title too. Did you come up with the idea for your blog title before you knew about the song? I wonder if my blog title is a song as well....
Neal - I'm really surprised you guys hadn't heard of this song. I guess it's because I'm from the south but it's a very old very famous song down here.
It was the perfect name for my blog because I love New Orleans and I do miss it every day even though I've never actually lived there. I think it's a soul thing.
Wonderful song about an amazing place. The Louis Armstrong version is tops for me, but I also like the Harry Connick with Dr. John.
Danno - I was surprised at how many people had never heard of the song.
