Give Me An F! Give Me a U!...

Last night our local CBS affiliate chose to pre-empt the regular Monday night television schedule to show a local college basketball game. That meant no King of Queens, no How I Met Your Mother (no big loss there), no Two and a Half Men, no Henry Winkler/Stockard Channing (I like that one).

The last time I counted, there are precisely 268 (give or take a couple hundred) sports networks on which this game could have been shown. Did they really think the majority of the Monday night Beaumont television audience wanted to watch basketball instead of Charlie Sheen?

Before you say I don’t have school spirit, just let me say that I have spirit. Yes, I do. I have spirit. How about you? I just didn't have it last night, the same night that Ray Romano was scheduled to guest star on King of Queens.

Sorry you missed it. King of Queens was particularly entertaining, but 2 1/2 Men kinda blew.

Ok...I'm going to be cruel. I GOT TO SEE THEM ALL HAHA!

They were pretty funny too. Even the mother one, which I still don't understand the premise. How long do they expect this show to last? Not long. The woman hasn't even appeared in the show yet.

But the American Pie chick is funny.

I like the Henry Winkler one also. The rude brother is a hoot.

word verf: ofkkfatv! That could stand for a lot of the things you said at your tv last night!

I saw that lineup---I am not part of the everyone who loves Raymond, and I thought it was puerile and unfunny, but I think the same thing of football

I feel your pain, only in reverse. Many years ago I lived in Salt Lake City. One Monday night the local affiliate preempted the live NCAA men's basketball final game to show a taped (yes, taped) broadcast of a speech given earlier in the day by the head of the Mormon Church.

Talk about a surreal moment.

Lauren - They are going to replay them tonight at midnight so I'll DVR them. Thanks for the review.

Zina - You mean girl! The American Chick's husband is the only one I really like on that Mother show. I love the Henry Winkler show. Good word veri!

Zina - I am hopelessly addicted to several tv shows and 2 1/2 Men is one of them.

Lorna - I can't believe there is something we don't share! I LOVED Raymond.

Abby - The only thing that makes me angrier than when they pre-empt things for sports is when they pre-empt for Billy Graham.

Peter - Bastards!

I've heard the FCC is thinking about allowing selective channel purchasing instead of buying 100 channels just to get the 5 that you actually watch. For me, that means I don't have to pay for the shopping networks, channels in languages I don't understand and best of all, sports channels. Sports in my opinion would be more interesting if they allowed unlimited player modifications like steroids, body enhancements like implanted spikes and if every sport was full contact... including bowling and golf! I just haven't found much enjoyment in one town's overpaid hired thugs playing against another town's overpaid hired thugs.

Ed - Oh, my God! That's a fabulous idea. I had the same thought during all the steroid questioning. We all know they're going to do it so turn 'em loose. There can be separate leagues for clean players and dirty players. Guess which one will have the biggest audience.

that game did you a favor. i cant believe you watch that crap.

I can't stand Ray Romano. Not everybody loves Ray. He talks like he's got some kind of crappie lodged in his mouth. Henry Winkler?! I'm not even going there - I thought your taste in entertainment was more refined - tell me, are you a Seinfeld or Frasier fan? Cause I don't think fans of a show about nothing, and a show about Raymond can co-exist in this sphere.

hahahahaa

Jeni - You feel my pain.

John Q. Public - I love that crap. Basketball should not come between me and my crap.

LG - I love Ray Romano and I loved his show, too. His standup is also hilarious. But, that's just me...I laugh when people fall down. As for Henry Winkler, his new show is made by the same people who made Frasier. You should give it a shot. I loved Frasier and Seinfeld, of course; but, comes a time when we must move on.

I feel the same way about sports taking over TV. The same goes for newsbreaks that can wait until the 6:00 news. All of this usually happens to us while we're at lunch trying to watch "As the World Turns." We're at work for god's sake. We shouldn't be punished at breaks too.

Baby Sis - Yeah, I remember when CBS cut into the last 5 minutes of CSI for a bulletin. Stupid.
