Hey, Hey, We're the Friends or I'll Be There for the Monkees

I was listening to the Monkees (another guilty pleasure, by the way) today on XM and it struck me that Mickey of the Monkees and Chandler of Friends had similar personalities. Taking it a step further, Ross and Mike were both the tall intelligent type while Davey and Joey were the heartthrobs. No Peter you say? You would be wrong. Phoebe fit the sweet flighty slot filled by Peter. Rachel and Monica represented every cutesy chick that the Monkees ever fell in love with. The Friends theme song is even kind of Monkee-ish.

To recap:Ross = Mike
Chandler = Mickey
Joey = Davey
Phoebe = Peter
Rachel/Monica = 1960’s hippie chicks
I’ll Be There For You = I’m a Believer

Interesting! I like listening to the Monkees too.
I perfer "I'm a Believer" even if it written by Neil Diamond ;-)
I didn't/don't watch Friends much but when it first came out and I saw the Joey character I kept thinking of a character Matt LeBanc played in Red Shoe Diaries, which has a nice theme song too ;-)

*zhsfn*- zils hardly seem fair now

Well I am finally able to get up and move around. The one thing I
miss the most about not being able
to drive is not being able to listen to my xm radio. I need to
get one for my house.

Can you please shut down your TV and radio? I'm getting a headache = cute boy overload

what's wrong with cousin susan? Is she my cousin susan too?

No one ever tells me anything!

I found out about Alan because I just happened to call while Cindy was at Aunt Gladys on one of those recent holidays.

Susan - I still watch the Friends reruns. Funny show.

Zina - My brain sure has been going off on weird tangents lately.

Cousin Susan - You'll be feeling like a million bucks in no time. Glad you're feeling better. I bought the MyFi which I use in my car, house and office. I LOVE it.

Lorna - I like boys.

Cousin Zina - Cousin Susan had a hysterectomy (I know you're jealous).

Now, you tell me what's wrong with Alan.

Al - At least you're a nice freak.

So Ross will promise to do a Friends reunion, only to quit during the first commercial break because he is embarassed to have ever been a part of the show?

Scary Personals

Laurie said...

R. U. Serious - If that happens, I'm taking this show on the road.

The Scary Personals are scary AND disburbing. *shiver*

You are a genius. I knew there was a reason I watched Friends. It all makes sense now.... Happy New Year.

Laurie said...

Cindy Bindy - Happy New Year to you, too!!

hahahahaa, we spent new year's eve morn watching the 1st season monkees with the grandkid. . . it seems we like it more than him. he gravitates to 'yellow submarine' and 'looney toons'. the monkees stuff is ok, but we really need 'head', if ya know what it means ... it's on my next list.

Laurie said...

Sleepybomb - I can't wait for the next list. You are the music man.

I read your blog about the Monkees. My dad used to work for a moving company and he moved Davey Jones' piano. The guy had a full length poster of himself naked. Daddy didn't think to take it and bring it home to me. But then I was only 14 at the time. :)

Davie - Oh, man! At 14, I would have freaked out to see Davie Jones naked...and not in a good way.
