American Idol

With apologies to all Phil and Gina fans, I think one of them will go home tonight. I would say Sanjaya will get the boot, but we all know he has that protective shield of inexplicable fandom protecting him. So, he’ll probably stick around until at least next week and God knows how long after that.

I was upstairs when Gina started singing and I thought, “What the hell is that?” It sounded horrible. I understand, now, why Simon turns his head and sometimes doesn’t watch the performers. When I played back the DVR of Gina’s performance, I was so distracted by her Edward Scissorhands hair-in-the-face affliction; I didn’t really notice how bad the vocals were.

As for Phil, he needs to sing a whole song well, not just the end. At this stage of the game, most of them haven’t built up enough of a fan base to stay on the show after a mediocre performance no matter how good they’ve done previously. That is, unless your name is Sanjaya.

I haven't watched it yet. I'm waiting for Dave to get home from work.

I really like Phil, but I agree with you. He can seem to start a song off right. It's kinda weird.

Could you believe the kid that was bawling during Sanjaya's song? I have never been that big a fan of anyone, not even at that age.

I would agree with you on your prediction, though. I don't even think Sanjaya will be in the bottom 3 tonight, although if it were up to me ("Thank God it's NOT," say the Fanjayas...) Sanjaya would have gone home weeks ago.

He seems like a nice kid and all, and he's not bad looking, but he can't really sing as well as the others. So. Meh.

Leslie - It will be on shortly and we'll all find out together.

I saw that girl crying and hope, for her own sake, that she was a plant.

Sanjaya. . . hopefully he will be this year's Chicken Little, and they won't let him make the top-10 cut. . . although it is nice to see some diversity outside the normal spectrum we see on TV.

I like Gina's rockerchick vibe. But you're right - last night she was not good.

I felt sorry for the little girl. She probably got hell at school today.

It was great to see your blog listed for the keyword 'nutria' at blogsearch.sg ... I found your article about nutria quite interesting among the many more posts that are listed at blogsearch.sg

Carli - We've been comparing him to Kevin Covais, too.

Donna - I'm glad Gina gets another shot but I hate to see Stephanie go. I'm not surprised though. As Simon would say, her performance last night was good but forgettable.

Anonymous - Um, thanks.

I can't believe Sanjaya wasn't voted off instead!
I like Phil, but I can't see him as an Idol.. just something about him doesn't ring with me. He doesnt' seem to have enough of an "it" factor!
Here via Hoss's site!

Phil seems like a really nice guy and all of the other contestants seem to like him, too. He just "doesn't do it for me, dawg."

Nice to meet you, by the way.

Phil will get voted off...just not this week (at the time of this writing, it is Monday) - This week will be Haley if not Sanjaya.

So sayeth Grimm

Grimm - Haley might last another week if she dresses like a hoochie again.
