Pandora

Another music recommendation from Jack is a fun way to discover new music through Pandora. You enter a song or artist you like and the site provides you with stations and artists which are similar in composition to that particular style of music. This is the outcome of the Music Genome Project which I couldn't begin to explain to you but you can click on the link and check it out for yourself.

Evidently, I'm a sucker for mild rhythmic syncopation, major key tonality and a male vocal-centric aesthetic. Several of them also had "extensive vamping." What the hell is "extensive vamping?"

I have my stations on the sidebar and you can do the same by clicking on the following link. (I couldn't make a hyperlink with it for some reason.)

Edited to add: Last FM is another site to use to discover new music.

I think extensive vamping has something to do with sucking blood.

Rob - So, we're both vamps.

Neal - That sounds right.

Lot's of vamping going on at that site. I had some of that vocal-centric aesthetic, too. Is that why it didn't play any instrumentals? I had to give up on Pandora when I tried to create a Rusty Wier station. They can't find a copy of "I heard you been layin' my old lady?" They're a few genies short of a genome.

Pokerboss - A few genies short of a genome? That's funny. I'm going to add a Rusty Weir station right now. My friend Jack went and saw him at Courville's the other night and said he was great!

As my friend who's now doing hard time in Pampa used to say, "shit, oh dear." I have no choice but to kill myself immediately. Missing Rusty is one of the signs of Apocalypse. Should a confirmed atheist like myself even reference the apocalypse? Should I capitalize it? Who the hell (Hell?) knows? If I missed a chance to hear "Don't It Make You Wanna Dance" live, I don't deserve to live. Goodbye, cruel world!!!!!!!!!!

Pokerboss - I sure hope Rusty comes back soon.
