Quarter Crawlers

My sister, Terry, wrote this extended limerick in honor of our upcoming New Orleans trip:

There once was a storm named Katrina
And then there was one name o' Rita,
But we'll go back to Pat's
And we'll all sing at Cat's,
'Cause the Quarter, you know, you can't beat 'er.

Thirteen years, it is now we be goin',
Through the ice and the rain and the snowin',
The risks we'll keep takin',
New friends we'll keep makin'
So, fuck the big winds that come blowin'!

To mutha nature, our nose, we'll keep thumbin',
To Mother's Poboy's, you know, we'll keep comin',
And we'll walk Bourbon Street
'Til we can't feel our feet,
A Lucky Dog, late at night, we'll be gummin'!

Why do they call that place the "Latin Quarter" when they all speak redneck?

Old Horsetail - They don't speak redneck. They speak "yat." Haven't you been paying attention?

Nice limmerick, I wish I could go down for Mardi Gras this year.

Good ole lucky dogs. I always think of Ignatius Reilly when I'm ordering one, and the guy selling them is usually just crazy enough to be him. Maybe just a pirate costume shy of "Ignatius crazy." :-)

Danno - I can't wait to eat a Lucky Dog. Confederacy of the Dunces is one of the best novels of all time.

Oh my gawd, I'm actually gonna be in N.O. with these people again this year. This time for St. Pat's instead of Mardi Gras. I just have to say, Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez go Bragh!

Pokerboss - The last trip we were on together was with a bunch of N. O. virgins. This trip will be with professionals. Hold on to your butt! I'm so excited that you guys are joining us.

Hey! I've danced on stage at Fat Cat's! Man, that place was fun. Enjoy your trip - be sure to do at least one body shot.

Bekah - If I've learned anything from all these trips to New Orleans all these years, it's stay away from the shots if you hope to last the whole weekend.

I am dying for 2 nuggets of Mardi Gras gold to go with one of your shots of Patron - Popeyes and this Lucky Dog you've got me chasing down!

Thanks for the blog.

I'll see you at Buzzards on Carnival Morn!
