Surprise!

Today, some of my friends at work gave me a surprise Grand-Fabulous-Mother luncheon and a wonderful basket of baby things. The wonderful baby things included the adorable blanket in the picture above which was made by the ever-talented Carly. The "card" was created by each of the girls writing messages under the lid of the baby bin.

A word of advice if planning a surprise party for me. There is no need to fret that I will ever catch on. This whole thing was planned, literally, right under my nose. All of the girls told me of various slips and near slips that they were sure had given away their secret. I never had a clue.
  • I walked up to the table and saw Carly aiming a camera at me and assumed she was just trying out a new camera.
  • I saw the huge gift on the conference room table and thought it was something someone was working on for someone else.
  • I was at my own surprise Grand-Fabulous-Mother Shower and, for at least 10 minutes, I still thought it was also a birthday party for Shannon.

They told me that the next time they plan to surprise me, they're just going to include me in the planning. It'll be a lot easier that way. Believe me, I'll never catch on.

Thanks Carly, Mary Beth, Shannon, Stephanie, Sue and Darlene. You guys made my day.

Gnight Girl - Baby is due 7/8. Getting closer! Maybe I'll do a post so everyone can sign an imaginary bin praising my wonderfulness. :)

Jen - I wish you were here, too! Except then you couldn't be with Brian. Yeah, Baton Rouge is better.

Very sweet! The box is such a creative idea. You work with some sweethearts.

I love your new look, although I think that by the time I got there, it was your old look. And Joe Cocker---what a grindingly sexy guy, hat or no!

I am also peeved that no one ever thought to give me a fabulous grnadmother party---maybe because I wouldn't let anybody give me baby showers when my kids were born

Yeah, I'm easy to surprise, too. Not only that but you can even tell me what you're going to get me and I'll forget.

Oohhh, I like surprises, but I'm sort of hard to surprise.

Leslie - I sure do!

Lorna - It's never too late!

Comfort Addict - Hahahah! Me, too.

Neal - I never have a clue.

I've been out of pocket for a while, so I saw this post and said "What? Laurie's pregnant!" but then I saw the "grandma" in the slide show. Heehee! Congratulations, and Happy Mothers Day!

Congratulations! What a great gift idea!

Maybe that grandbaby will show up a little early. My bday is 7/4 and it is quite cool to be able to count on having the day off and fireworks on your birthday!

Miss Cellania - Oh, heart failure! Hahahaha!

Lory - Oh! Fireworks!! That would be great.

Very cool. I think the most you would get around here is a $5 coupon off Huggies at the local supermarket.
