Paul 'Bubba' Mitchell
Paul Mitchell has a commercial out in which he goes on and on ad nauseum about the fact that if you see any of his products anywhere other than a salon, the products are counterfeit. While I can now buy Matrix products at Target and Redken products at Kroger, anyone who wants Paul Mitchell products has to pay out the ass at a salon.
Paul could obviously make more money if he sold his products in more places than just salons so I don’t think lost revenue is his motivation here. I think his problem with the counterfeit products is that he doesn’t want some Bubba with a mullet whose granny cut his hair in her kitchen going around town being a Paul Mitchell spokesperson.
“Hey, Bubba! Nice hair.”
“Thanks, I use Paul Mitchell.”
Maybe Paul could be standing in the background giving the camera the devil horns sign and bobbing his head up and down to Sweet Home Alabama. Now that would be a good commercial.
Snobbiness is annoying and boring no matter how it’s expressed. Paul, get over yourself, and put that shit on the shelves at WalMart. Be a man for God’s sake.

This seems to happen to some people with products, unfortunately. I call it that Apple Syndrome. Steve Jobs made a calculated decision not to license the Apple operating system and look what happened - Windows. Get over the country club mentality, Paul - put your stuff out there.
I really can't tell the difference between the faux Paul Mitchell and the real thing. It all looks the same to me whether its sold in a salon or on at the H.E.B. in Mid-County, which is where I saw Paul Mitchell products the one and only at time I've been in there. Personally, I don't shop at H.E.B. Too many unsavory people in there. I prefer Bruce's Market Basket in Groves, Texas, even if it is more expensive. A better class of people shop there. . .Oops, do I sound like a snob?
who is Paul Mitchell? What is the counterfeit product? Can I buy it somewhere besides Wal-Mart?
Comfort Addict - Amen!
Anonymous - A healthy fear of catching someone's cooties isn't snobby.
Lorna - Paul Mitchell makes upscale haircare products. I'm lobbying for him to sell it at WalMart. I don't think he cares.
Maybe it could be like they do with the heavy hitting antihistimines. Keep the Paul Mitchell stuff behind the pharmacist's counter at Walmart. Or perhaps you could get it if you had a written note from a hair stylist.
that first picture must been the worst haircut I've ever seen.
Abby - That is actually an excellent idea. Maybe Paul should hire you for PR.
Rik - Do a Google of mullet and look at the images tab. You won't believe it.
In the past, I had some stuff called "Generic Brand Paul Mitchell." The fine print admitted it was not the real thing, but identical in every way. I'll never know, because when it ran out I got something else. It was OK stuff, but I didn't feel I had to stay with it, like I do with the Patron.
Larry - I wonder if there is a counterfeit Patron?
Glod - I love it! (You're for the wind farms, right? I got confused.)
