LOL! I like lighting a lot. I have been using compact fluorescent bulbs for about 20 yrs since we could first order them from our utility company. Lately I have switched back to a mixture of halogen, CF and incandescent bulbs.

Several things I have notice about CF light bulbs besides everything on this youtube.

1) I think they cause sunburn, because my forearms seem sunburned and they are never exposed to the sun.

2) The light bulbs lose their brightness over time.

3) I have had several bulbs start smoking and burning from bugs or something getting on them near where the tube goes into the ceramic base.

4) They can only be used in open fixtures and away from moisture like in bathrooms... Down fixtures severely shorten their life.

5) They don't like cold weather and you can't heat your car engine block with them when its really cold. You also can't use them in ovens, freezers or refrigerators.

6)LEDs will probably become a better solution soon.

7) They never last as long as they are supposed to, some I have to replace every 6 months.

I am totally opposed to government intervention in this manner, let people decide for themselves if they want bulbs with mercury in them that can't be recycled, and are dangerous if broken or in landfills.

Damn commies! They can't tell me what light bulbs to use.

I think the CFL bulbs are ugly.

Baby sis:

All of us girls at camp this weekend decided to throw ours away but then got nervous about how to dispose of them. I suggest we box them and send them back to China.

Whatya think?
