Bohemian Rhapsody

When was the last time you saw the original Bohemian Rhapsody? I bet it's been a long time. I can't believe that, back in the day, we didn't think of Freddy Mercury as being gay. The name of the band was Queen for heaven's sake. We still had no clue.

So, without further ado, I present QUEEN...

Thanks Laurie,

I needed the smile. I saw Queen during that tour. I remember being amazed that freddy could walk on such high platforms.
My friend and I were with a music critic, and we got to go back stage. Freddy was polite but untwinkling, with no groupies around, I guess we thought he must just be married or something. Turned out to be the or something I guess.

What? "Freddie" Mercury was gay??? OMG. I did not know that. I thought he was just the artsy type. I wonder why he never got his teeth fixed? Poodles

I remember seeing them in concert a couple times in the early eighties. Freddie Mercury wore a black and white leotard with a neckline that plunged all the way down to his waist. I remember thinking that his costumes looked really really gay. But then, so did Brian May's big, puffy, satiny shirts. But that doesn't mean anything, does it? They're just being artsy, right?

I'm in a Bohemian Rhapsody now and intend to stay there for the rest of the night. Gay? pshaw!! rawly talented, chest-hair impaired.

Laurie: Gay? Surely you jest :) In my duties as the new booster sponsor for the high school where I teach, I have given each squad a Queen song and they have all summer to create a dance routine for a pep rally. Just my little way of spreading "Queenly goodness" around the world. I can't wait to see their routines. I'll record them and send them to you. I'm sure we'll howl with laughter :) Take Care. Hope your dad continues to improve. Cindy

Poodles - He seemed quite comfortable with those teeth. Maybe he was afraid it would affect his singing.

Jack - I'm so jealous that you and Susan actually saw them...and Susan MET them! Damn!

Lorna - An amazing talent, to be sure.

Cindy - Brilliant! I want to see them. You'll have to upload the videos to You Tube.

A long time? You'd lose that bet. This song has one of the greatest guitar solos of all time, so it's in my heavy rotation. Next time I'm at The Cat's Meow, I'm doing this one! Scaramouche!

By the way, Cruise Director Laurie, when is the next time I'll be at The Cat's Meow? Need to start practicing my four-part harmony, you know. And completely off topic: When I google "missneworleans blog" why does it say, "did you mean 'kissneworleans blog?'" I wouldn't have kissed New Orleans before Katrina!

Pokerboss - I hope to plan another New Orleans trip for late fall or winter. I'll be sure to keep Peggy in the loop.

Pokerboss Part 2 - I don't know about the Kiss New Orleans thing. I noticed that too. It's a rather odd suggestion.

I recently went to see the musical "We Will Rock You" in London. It is brilliant. It a story build around all the Queen-songs. And yes, the Bohemian Rhapsody was most certainly in there.

Haha .. and I tend to be really bad at "recognizing" gay people as well! ;) Some people have a special eye for it, but I am not one of them. I cannot be bothered about it though. People are people. Gay or not gay.

Astrid - That show sounds amazing!
