American Idol - Oh, the pain!

This has been a painful year American Idol-wise. I've never quite gotten over Patrick Hall getting voted off (loved that long neck) way before we even got close to the top 12, not to mention the pain I've endured since Gedeon was voted off.

Then, last week, it was the Chris shocker (oddly reminiscent of the premature departures of Tamyra Gray, Trenyce, LaToya London, Jennifer Hudson and Constantine Maroulis in previous seasons) and now Elliott is gone. Like most American Idol fans, I was hoping for a Chris and Taylor finale. However, I've also had a soft spot for Elliott since the beginning. I was just happy when he made it to the Top 5. When it looked like he might make it to the final I was thrilled. I would have loved to see him go all the way.

It was hard enough to see Elliott lose but, I think Katherine and her family could have shown a little class by containing their excitement that Katherine is in the final. There is a time for celebration and Elliott's goodbye wasn't the time.

I can't stand Katherine McPhony or her family. Bah. I wrote a fairly good rant about her on Tuesday night. Maybe will do another one this weekend.

I definitely think that Elliot's departure would have been easier to take if McFitful (meaning spastic) was out and Chris was still in.

I think they ought to make Simon sing. That's what I think....

Glad to know I'm not the only one who is so tired of Katherine and her crying dad. I'm glad her family supports her, but damn, did they have to do a victory dance while poor old Elliot was being let go? If Elliot was prettier to look at I wonder if he would be going home. Oh well, now all my votes and my neighbors votes and my student's votes will just have to go to Taylor. Thanks for letting me vent. Hope your dad is steadily improving.

I love music, I love singing, but I hate American Idol, Canadian Idol, New Zealand Idol, Country Rock Star and that ilk. I hate any show that embarasses me by embarassing other people. I know, touchy-feely, but that's just me.

Jen - I agree on both of your brilliant comments.

Old Horsetail - Now, there's an idea.

Cindy - American Idol brings out the venter in people.

Lorna - The embarrassing is mostly during the auditions which make me uncomfortable. I love the actual singing competition though.
