I was listening to Christmas carols today and heard "Away in a Manger."
Away in a manger,
No crib for His bed
The little Lord Jesus
Laid down His sweet head.
That's when I realized that Baby Jesus is my favorite Jesus. So little. So sweet.
Adolescent Jesus seems like he was a handful, running off and hanging out with teachers and all, and the Jesus who kicked everybody out of the temple scares me.
Of course, the Jesus that turned water into wine and whipped up all those loaves and fishes would be cool to hang out with and the Jesus who calmed the storm would come in handy here on the Gulf coast.
Jesus on the cross makes me sad and resurrected Jesus makes me aware of my unawesomeness and I would always be averting my eyes around him.
But, Baby Jesus. Ah, yes. Baby Jesus. I could hug him and squeeze him and run with him and make him laugh.
Baby Jesus. He's my favorite.

Ricky Bobby always prayed to Baby Jesus.
"Dear Lord baby Jesus, lyin' there in your ghost manger, just lookin' at your Baby Einstein developmental videos, learnin' 'bout shapes and colors. I would like to thank you for bringin' me and my mama together, and also that my kids no longer sound like retarded gang-bangers."
LOL. So irreverent, but funny.
I like to picture Jesus in a tuxedo T-Shirt because it says I want to be y formal, but I'm here to party.
(Just keeping the trend going)
Excuse me while I board the Hell Express.
We all love our "Baby Jesus". Who does not Love A Baby. But the grown up Jesus is no different then the "Babies" of today who grow up and we are concerned about How They Grown UP. Jesus on the cross always makes me cry, because I can't help think about if that was my son suffering on the cross. (Stuart). Merry Christmas to everyone.
I love the baby Jesus too but John Prine's song "Jesus: The Missing Years" makes me curious to know what happened those fourteen years? unaccounted for in scripture. As John says, .....I snuck off one weekend to go fishin' with a waitress from Nashville and when we got back to town EVERYONE knew where we had been. Must have been an interesting time wherever He was.
I always feel bad about laughing at the sacred stuff.
I believe laughter is sacred, make a joyful noise, etc. If God hadn't given me a sense of humor about all things, I wouldn't be here now.
I think he's my favorite now too! Adorable pic!
