"What number is that?"

I just called my optometrist's office. When I told the girl who answered the phone that I needed to order some contact lenses, she put me on hold and never came back. When I called back and she realized she couldn't get rid of me that easily, she took my order. Here's the conversation:

Operator: What is your name?

Me: Laurie Anderson

(She put me on hold for a while to get my chart.)

Operator: What is your name again?

Me: Laurie Anderson

Operator: Oh, Anderson is your LAST name?

Me: Yes

(Put me on hold again.)

Operator: Okay, I found it. How do you want to pay?

Me: My debit card.

Operator: Um, okay. What's the number?

Me: (blahdy, blahdy, blah...giving her my number)

Operator: Expiration date?

Me: October, 2008

Operator: What number is that?

Me: Excuse me?

Operator: October. What number is that?

Me: Um, ten?

Operator: Okay. October...ten. 2008?

Me: Uh, yeah.

Operator: Hold on.

(Put me on hold for the third time in about 2 minutes.)

Operator: Okay, we'll call you when they come in. CLICK.

Me: (hanging up the phone mumbling to myself) Oh...my...God. What number is that? WHAT NUMBER IS THAT?! Oh...my...God...

Baby sis:
I KNOW that there are intelligent people looking for jobs. Where the hell are they?
I went for some blood work today for my thyroid. Done a thousand times. They usually take 3 little vials. This chick to 8 vials. I almost told her "Why don't you just hook up a bag?" or "Are you saving the other 5 for a snack later Drac"

This hasn't been my best month.(stand by for my brief pitty party)

Thanks for the support

Are we taking bets on whether or not she really will call you when your lenses come in or if she even placed the order?

Everybody - I'll let you know how the transaction comes out.

Don't start holding your breath until eleven.

Lorna - Friday afternoon, I had a message on my machine at home that my contacts were in. I ordered them Wednesday and they're in on Friday...and it usually takes a couple of weeks? Something ain't right. Big surprise.
