Anybody know a good handyman?

This morning I hit my garage door opener so I could put some trash out before leaving for work. The garage door partially opened and, suddenly, stopped. When I looked up, I noticed it was caught on a piece of sheetrock that had somehow loosened from my ceiling. I pushed the button for the garage door to go down which it did. Unfortunately, the sheetrock came down also...on my car.

Let's recap, shall we:
  • Front gate is sticking badly and the handle is pulling loose from the board it's attached to.
  • Glass on porch light is busted which I still haven't replaced since Hurricane Rita.
  • Storm door fell off of its hinges as I tried to open it last Saturday.
  • Sheetrock fell from ceiling in garage this morning.
  • Car is scratched from falling sheetrock.
  • My electric stapler at work just went totally berserk.
Oh, well, it could always be worse.
  • The sticky gate prevents pizza guys from bringing me fattening pizzas.
  • The busted porch light was the ONLY damage I had from Hurricane Rita.
  • The glass on the storm door didn't break and put my eye out.
  • The sheetrock didn't fall on my head.
  • The car only has minor scratches on the side which would have been a lot worse (including dented) if I had parked the car differently.
  • The electric stapler didn't succeed in its attempted assault on my index finger.
I'll post pictures tonight.

Wow,... that's quite a list. But you're right, it could always be worse :)

I know a handyman---here's how things could get worse:

(Front gate is sticking badly and the handle is pulling loose from the board it's attached to) Dave could fix the handle but then he'd step through the weak spot on the gate and your fence would be toast

(Glass on porch light is busted which I still haven't replaced since Hurricane Rita.) Dave could replace the front porch light, but afterwards, he'd drop the wrench through the glass of the front door and maybe he'd accidentally bring back Hurricane Rita

(Storm door fell off of its hinges as I tried to open it last Saturday.) Dave could replace the hinges and hang the door but he'd notice it was a bit off kilter and plane off 3/4 of an inch on the inner corner, 3 and 1/4 inches on the outer.

(Sheetrock fell from ceiling in garage this morning.) Dave could put the sheetrock back but he'd dislodge the hornets' nest that's been hidden behind it

(Car is scratched from falling sheetrock.) Dave can mend little scratches on the car but sometimes he's so happy he leans back to enjoy a softdrink and the rivets on his jeans do a number on the paint.

(My electric stapler at work just went totally berserk.) Dave is not allowed near staplers of any kind.

Well, yeah. It's not like being attacked by a blueberry or something.

It's a good thing to be optimistic...the glass is half full, that sort of thing.

A.J. - Absolutely.

Lorna - That's great!

Old Horsetail - Oh, great. Something else to worry about.

Texas Gal - It's how I get by.

I hope you had your hat on when that sheetrock came down; otherwise you would have had a bad hair day on top of it all!!...now I really am running off for an extra long w/e thanks for stopping by

Very impressive, and here I was wondering how you could top the glass from the door...

I am very glad you didn't get hurt. Maybe there is some sort of aura around you that keeps you safe ;-)
