Port Arthur, Texas on 30 Rock

I love 30 Rock. I had last week's episode saved on my DVR for when I got home from vacation. Imagine my shock, as I watched the episode and heard Alec Baldwin mention my hometown of Port Arthur, Texas on the episode. Can you say "surreal?"

  1. I think I heard that too! We actually get that show over here.

  2. Jen - I was freaking out! Nobody ever mentions Port Arthur, Texas on television unless they're talking about Janis Joplin.

    Texas Gal - Weird, right?

  3. Guess what, you're totally famous. During "Small Town News" last night, Dave Letterman featured a classified ad about cows from "The Beaumont Enterprise" in Beaumont, Texas. I said to myself, "Oh, that's where Laurie lives."

    Here's a link to a show recap:

  4. La Sirena - Wow! Twice in one week. Now that's weird, too.

  5. I love it when Beaumont and/or Port Arthur are in clues on Jeopardy! Nobody ever gets those right.

  6. Cleveland got a pretty great shout-out on 30 Rock...that song about the city was terrific! I was dreading the sort of condescension that New York heaps on smaller cities, but I thought it was affectionately done. And the idea that Cleveland sees Tina Fey as a fashion model because she's thin was hilarious! Lots of funny 30 Rock stuff at http://www.cafepress.com/hoganstore/2312608

  7. Anonymous must not know how much smaller Port Arthur is than Cleveland.

  8. Pokerboss - I'm not smart enough to watch Jeopardy. All those smart people piss me off.

    Lorna - There...and there.

Anonymous - I thought Cleveland was treated very nicely as well. If they meant for it to be sarcastic, it didn't come out that way. It was really kind of sweet.

    Jen - Shhhhhhh....
