Their alleged slogan was "Singles on the mingle meet at the Dingle."

A Dingleberry's matchbook appeared along with a story in the Doug Kenney memorial issue of National Lampoon, which would have put it around 1980.

Doug Kenney was a writer for and founder of National Lampoon (the issue I'm thinking of was a collection of his work), as well as one of the writers of Animal House, in which he played Stork (the one they thought was brain damaged his first year and who spoke the immortal line: "Well, what the hell we supposed to do, ya mo-ron?")

It was a memorial issue because in 1980 Doug Kenney fell to his death off a cliff in Hawaii. In his memorial issue they included a cartoon that had a picture of a cliff with a sign that said "Doug Kenney slipped here."

Funny what things stick with you 25 years later.Jackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00996730199357223271noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8604246.post-1144303289816517552006-04-06T01:01:00.000-05:002006-04-06T01:01:00.000-05:00The word 'dingleberry' came up in a conversation l...The word 'dingleberry' came up in a conversation last week, but for the life of me I can't remember what I was talking about.Nealhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14436689817672086899noreply@blogger.com
